food poetry.
asparagus,
why do you wrench my heart?
with all your pointed spears,
you're tearing me apart.
little onion,
i watch your round skin glow...
as i unpeel you with my eyes,
but that you'll never know.
oh artichoke!
how you woo me so...
with your leaves dipped in butter,
i cannot let you go!
how often i have wooed thee,
my grape of the divine...
i won't let them take you
and turn you into wine.
yellow squash i do adore thee,
much more than you can know...
and when you are inside me,
no longer is there woe.
corn oh corn!
i thought you should hear...
you paint smiles on my cheeks,
when i kiss your sweet ear.
